CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Sameen Shaw
CANON: Person of Interest
AGE: 35 years old (give or take; actual age unknown)
CANON POINT: post "If-Then-Else" (Season 4, Episode 11)
BACKGROUND: Shaw @ PoI Wikia
INCENTIVE: Shaw isn't the kind of person that would easily come along willingly to a place like Eudio. However, at her canon point, her other options are bleak at best, and she does have a lot to lose and a lot that she would be willing to do anything to see happen. As such, she would agree to come to the city and fulfill her contract (after extensive questioning) with the condition of seeing the rest of her group safe (Root, Finch, Reese, Fusco), of being reunited with them, and of seeing the Samaritan being shut down and completely destroyed.
FIT: Shaw's very peculiar in regards to her feelings, particularly when it comes to expressing them. More often than not, she looks stoic, poised, entirely unaffected and completely detached of what happens around her, which often can lead to people thinking that she doesn't care. That's not the case, though, it's simply that she can't easily express those feelings, if at all, which is the way she's been since she was a young girl. Despite this, she doesn't shy away from human contact, even if she might be awkward at times, though when she is atracted to someone she tends to be relatively direct about it, even at times taking the lead and going in for the first step.
Although Shaw is far from the epitome of morality, having killed in the past when following orders or to protect herself or other people from harm, she is someone with firm beliefs of what is right and wrong, and of respecting other people's choices - as long as those choices don't involve putting any other lives at risk. So, the notion of consent is very much clear to her, she will know what 'no' or 'yes' means, and she will respect those boundaries just like she will expect anyone else in the city to respect her own answers and choices, whatever those end up being.
SAMPLE:
She'd always thought that a bullet would be the end of her, but now that she was here, she was starting to think that boredom may just be the thing that would do her in.
It was late in the day, and the gym was practically empty by now. Shaw had gotten here some good hours ago, paused only for a snack, and otherwise kept herself busy. She'd sparred with a number of people, whoever took up her challenges, but by now, her only opponent was the sandbag hanging from the ceiling. One strong right hook had it swinging away, only to come back and make contact with her left fist. She never waited long enough for it to stop, one blow following the other, a low kick thrown in once or twice for good measure. It wasn't particularly exciting, but at least it helped blow off some steam, and the sandbag had the very appealing quality of not talking at all while she was dishing out some violence aimed its way.
Not that she minded being with people. Well... she did, sometimes. But she knew she was here for a reason, and she would fulfill her end of the deal, no matter what. Still, that didn't mean she had to spend every waking moment in the company of people. Sometimes, it was nice just being on her own.
Didn't help too much with the boredom, though. This place was so calm, so peaceful, and it offered a kind of life that she never really had before, and wasn't entirely sure she wanted. As it was, she'd spent her first few weeks expecting something to blow up - figuratively or literally - but only to find that there was nothing. Just nice weather, nice people, nice... everything.
It was a lot to get used to, for someone who felt like she'd spent her entire life working, fighting, running, doing one mission after the other, even after leaving ISA and joining her current team. Probably even more so then.
But she was here for a good reason, she reminded herself. What was there back home for her anyway? Dying, possibly, or worse yet - getting captured and held by her enemies, the very people (and the system) that she and the others had been fighting so tirelessly against? What use would she be to them then? Here, at least, she might prove more useful to them, if this whole thing did pan out. If not, then she could just go back and face the music, as they said. As it was, she held onto the one thing that might be a little foolish, but it wasn't like her options were that great otherwise: hope.
"You keep going like that, and you might just punch a hole through the sandbag."
Shaw turned at the voice, looking at the gym owner cleaning up the place. He smiled, having said that with a hint of humor, and she returned it with a slight quirk of her lips and a casual half-shrug.
"Maybe that's the plan."
But the man was right; and she had been here for a while now. The sun might even have set at this point, and she was the only one there. As much as she wouldn't mind to keep going well into the night, the guy clearly was getting ready to leave, and she wasn't so much of an ass that she'd keep him from closing up.
So, with one last, strong punch (that did not tear a hole through the sandbag), she went to grab her things, then made her way over to the lockers for a quick shower before heading out. Wistfully, she thought of the gun range, probably already closed up at this point too. Ah well. There was always tomorrow.
ANYTHING ELSE? In the app page you say it'd be enough to write one sample if we didn't have any threads to link, but if another written sample is required (especially since the one I wrote has virtually no dialog), let me know and I'll type one up real quick!
